Starting tomorrow, June 17, my friend Robert Imbriale, will be hosting an online seminar series called "The No Money Down Marketing Seminar Series". There is an all-star cast for this production:
* Yanik Silver
* Debbie Allen
* Mark Hendricks
* Joe Nunziata
* Alan Bechtold
" Russ Von Hoelscher
* Michael Penland
* Shawn Casey
* Donald Moine
* Jo Cavanaugh
* Robert Imbriale, our host
* And me, Sydney Johnston
Many of these folks are good friends of mine and I know how much they have to offer, like Robert, Alan, Michael, Yanik, Russ. The conversations will, naturally, be about Internet marketing and how to succeed with it.
Actually, though, the person I most want to hear is Donald Moine. I've never heard him before but I've surely read his book, "Unlimited Selling Power: How to Master Hypnotic Selling Skills". It's about how to use such disciplines as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) to ethically persuade customers to buy from you. Everything in the book isn't relevant to Net marketing because some of it depends on personal contact. Still, it's fascinating stuff and I'm looking forward to learning from him.
This is a 12 week session that is practically free at only $97. That's a mere $8 per speaker. What a great deal!

Auction Genius Course Student
Offers A PayPal Fraud Warning
"Just a note of caution. I recently purchased a Bulk Mailer for sending to a list of Double Opt-In leads I have. I went to the Website and paid by PayPal. The Website offered a Free Trial and 8 bonuses. I paid through PayPal. After a few days I kept e-mailing the contact address and they said they were waiting for Faxing of my details to send my Registration number. After another couple of days, I phoned the company in USA and to my horror discovered they had not received a payment from me. ($299) They have investigated and found a Spoof Website had mirror copied their details including their PayPal payment page and the payment had disappeared to the Fraudster. Needless to say, I have notified payPal and the Spoof site is now down. Hopefully PayPal will cover me for the money I lost. It is a salutary warning to be always on guard on the Net. The Fraudsters are getting better at copying legitimate PayPal forms."
Once again ... always, always, ALWAYS go directly to PayPal.com and login through your own account when paying via this popular channel!
Assist2Auction Mobile Consignment Business - Good Idea Or Not?
An eBay consignment business is a very popular biz op these days. It's in the news often and many sellers are attracted to the notion of
Assist2Auction is a home business opportunity that is currently making the rounds, mostly through mail order. It is nothing more or less than an eBay consignment store - on wheels. Let's look at the costs of this dubious business ...
The Costs Of Assist2Auction
1. For slightly less than $17,900 you can receive Assist2Auction training and various pieces of equipment, like a video cam ...{"proprietary TRAK-it software plus photo editing software to facilitate the easy operation of your home-based business, along with your A2A designated professional digital camera with accessories; portable photo studio lighting kit; marketing material start-up kit; classroom/lab training"}
You must travel to take this training, though, and hotels, meals, transportation, etc., are extra.
We recently bought a really good video cam with more accessories than anyone could ever want - the package recommended by a video professional - for under $600. Software for managing auctions ... $10/month. Photo editing software ... try irfanview.com for free. Overall, very expensive stuff.
2. Assist2Auction is an eBay mobile consignment business. Making money in the consignment business, wherein sellers bring their goodies to you, is tough enough. With this model, you must go to the sellers.
This means you must also incur the expense of a van. And to impress potential customers, you must have a fairly decent van - no old clunkers. This is, of course, a considerable additional expenditure.
3. The picture on the slick, glossy, literature for this opportunity shows a nice van that is clearly handpainted with the company information. More expense for the decoration - of somebody else's company, we might add!
4. And let's not forget the cost of gasoline these days!
5. Then comes the real biggie ... advertising! How will an Assist2Auction franchisee advertise his business so that he can find hordes of folks who want to sell on eBay and don't want to be bothered to learn how? And yes, he will need hordes to recover just the initial expenses of setting up this consignment business. Will he advertise on:
* The radio?
* The newspaper?
* On TV?
* Local Internet (if so, how will he find customers? the search engines? Pay Per Clicks?)
6. And who pays the eBay fees, whether the item sells or not?
All expensive and/or time consuming propositions.
The Profits From This eBay Consignment Store On Wheels
And now about potential profit: many experts in the consignment business recommend a minimum threshold of $50 for items. How much is profit to our Assist2Auction owner?
* Typically, the owners of the goods receive a 35% commission. Of course that is negotiable, but that range is certain appropriate and average.
* Secondly, the owners of Assist2Auction will receive a "low" amount that isn't specified. If we assume this low amount is 15%, then our poor franchise owner will receive the gigantic sum of ...
$25!
Of course, the dollars may vary slightly. But I can't see how the owner can get this business set up for less than $30,000, and perhaps more. At $25 profit on each sale, he will need 1200 sales just to recoup his costs. And of course this doesn't include ongoing costs like continued advertising, gas, telephone, somewhere to store the consigned goods and more.
Can it be done? Of course - almost any business will work for somebody, somewhere.
Are the odds, good? NO!!!
For a fraction of this cost, someone wanting their own business can learn how to sell on eBay, find a supplier and start their own business. In that case, their only obligation is to themselves! Why do you need Assist2Auction?
Great News For eBay Sellers From The US Post Office!
At the recent eBay Live event in Las Vegas, one of the speakers was the Jack Potter, who is the Postmaster General for the US. Telling eBayers how much they are loved by the Post Office, he announced that there is a new priority mail box for SHOES. Very cool!
He also announced that this fall the PO would allow "batch" printing of postage labels, rather than the current tedious one-by-one.
eBay already has a partnership with the U.S. Postal Service. eBay sellers can receive free co-branded shipping boxes for Priority Mail and Priority Mail Flat Rate Service. These boxes will be delivered directly to your home at no charge. To get this service, you must be a registered eBay user.
* Boxes may only be ordered online and you can only order 1 set of boxes per sku per day.
* In addition to ordering free co-branded boxes, you can purchase and print shipping labels, insure your item and request free carrier pick-up, all from your computer!
